Optek Solutions is majority owned by Athabasca Basin Development, Kitsaki Management and Peter Ballantyne Group of Companies.

These three Indigenous owned investment companies have been in operations for over 40 years and have a large portfolio of businesses, including an airline, hotels, security, convenience stores, welding, construction, drilling and retail.  

Athabasca Basin Development

Athabasca Basin Development is owned by the seven communities in Northern Saskatchewan’s Athabasca area. These communities are largely Dene First Nations communities and include Fond du Lac, Stony Rapids, Black Lake, Hatchet Lake, Wollaston Lake, Camsell Portage and Uranium City. Since being established in 2002, Athabasca Basin Development has grown to include complete or partial ownership in numerous companies providing a wide range of services. With a strong focus on wealth creation and reinvestment, an experienced management team, and a strong balance sheet, the company is well positioned to continue to acquire, build and grow successful businesses.

Peter Ballantyne Group of Companies

Peter Ballantyne Group of Companies (PBGOC) operates as the for-profit business development entity of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation (PBCN). PBGOC believes that sound management, constant communication, excellent business ethics, exceptional accountability practices and strong support from our Board and leadership are essential in the creation and operation of successful businesses. Through that success, they promote stability, job creation, training opportunities and wealth generation for Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation community programs.

Kitsaki Management

Kitsaki Management Limited Partnership has managed the economic development activities of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) since1981. Dedicated to investing in long-term sustainable businesses that meet the appropriate profitability, risk and employment criteria, Kitsaki has built a diverse portfolio of investments in many sectors including: transportation,hospitality, environmental, mining, engineering, utility vegetation, insurance, and forestry.
